Turn on the AC, ISC West is Hot

Nothing warm about the Las Vegas weather outside. It is cold, and it was raining after the opening day.

No one seemed to care inside the convention center. The hall was packed with inquisitive security professionals.

I wrestled with the idea of how I was going to make my rounds from booth to booth. I think I see knee replacement in my near future.

Day Two, I’m going to find a battery powered cart as I make my way around. I’m not getting any younger and after 25 or 26 of these tradeshows I should have known better yesterday.

So, what’s new?

It is an ISC West tradition to have a media breakfast with Martin Gren and Fredrik Nilsson. Super nice guys that cook up a nice egg, bacon and croissant spread.

Axis Communications reveals 5 new cameras. All are ARTPEC 8.0 ready. If there is a void in the camera lineup. Here is the solution.

My interest was supply chain issues. Everyone felt it from one degree to another. Axis engineers dreamed up the way to ensure components could be produced without sacrificing quality in the solution.

Revenue in 2022 was $1.6 billion, and a 20% increase.

A similar report from Hanwha Vision’s Tom Cook. Here’s the story.

It seems someone in upper management at Hanwha had an epiphany long before Covid hit. Spend the money to bank on supplies and components. It turns out that the company invested in a three-year supply of materials.

It was probably the best investment ever made. This decision allowed workers to continue their work.

Workers in Vietnam pitched tents at the manufacturing site to continue work as they faced the ills of the pandemic.

That is dedication and product loyalty. This also accounts for continued growth in an industry that exhibits growth.
