LVT Expands Security Ecosystem with Mobile Gate Solution

The portable GuardGate system automates site access and data capture to reduce reliance on physical guards and lower operational costs.

LVT has announced the launch of GuardGate, a portable barrier system designed to regulate access to restricted commercial areas such as distribution centers, storage yards and drop lots.

The system, which the company classifies as a "drop-and-go" solution, is intended to bolster site safety by providing automated, real-time data capture. The technology aims to address rising concerns regarding cargo theft, which resulted in an estimated $725 million in losses across North America in 2025.

Unlike permanent gate infrastructure, the mobile unit can be deployed in hours. It features a remote-controlled arm and an integrated intercom for visual and audio validation. Users can schedule gate operations automatically or manage them remotely through the company’s platform.

The solution enters the market as organizations face increasing costs for physical security personnel. Maintaining 24/7 human coverage at a single checkpoint can exceed $100,000 annually for unarmed guards, a figure that often rises significantly when adding the construction costs of permanent guard shacks and power infrastructure.

"Organizations no longer have to sacrifice personnel safety and cargo security to preserve operational cost efficiency," said Steve Lindsey, LVT co-founder and chief strategist. "Diverse, remote sites that previously could not justify a dedicated security infrastructure can now employ advanced deterrence and video recording capabilities at a fraction of the cost."

The system utilizes agentic AI to monitor for unauthorized access. When a breach is detected, the system alerts security personnel and begins compiling digital records to assist in investigations.

During beta testing at retail distribution facilities, the company reported that the system helped one customer reduce guard-related expenditures by more than 30% while maintaining security standards. The solution is also designed to help companies meet insurance compliance requirements, which frequently mandate physical access controls at storage and logistics locations.

The rollout follows several recent additions to the company’s portfolio, including license plate recognition technology and a broader shift toward intelligent site management.
