OPEX Corporation Completes Cybersecurity Readiness Assessment

The automation leader partners with ONEKEY to align manufacturing processes with upcoming European Union regulatory requirements.

OPEX Corporation has finished a specialized readiness assessment to ensure its automated systems meet the standards of the European Union’s forthcoming Cyber Resilience Act.

The assessment was conducted by security firm ONEKEY through its "Fast Start" program. As the EU prepares to implement binding cybersecurity requirements for all connected hardware and software products, manufacturers are facing new pressure to document the entire lifecycle of their digital components.

The Cyber Resilience Act, or CRA, requires companies to maintain a software bill of materials, implement systematic vulnerability management, and provide secure, long-term update mechanisms for their products.

During the assessment, ONEKEY analyzed the development processes and security controls at OPEX, an American automation and manufacturing provider with operations in Germany. While OPEX had previously established security protocols based on international industrial standards, the audit aimed to bridge any specific gaps created by the new EU legislation.

The evaluation included a review of development guidelines, update procedures, and vulnerability reporting.

"The structured assessment provided the clarity we needed to validate our existing practices and define the next steps," said Nenad Vujovic, director of DMA design engineering at OPEX Corporation.

The results provided OPEX with a formal validation of its current security maturity level and a roadmap for future compliance. Industry data suggests that while the CRA will impact the vast majority of digital manufacturers, only a small fraction of organizations have currently implemented the necessary measures to meet the new legal standards.
