Symantec Corp. recently announced the publication of its March 2011 MessageLabs Intelligence Report. Analysis reveals that in March, prior to its takedown, the Rustock botnet had been sending as many as 13.82 billion spam emails daily, accounting for an average of 28.5 percent of global spam sent from all botnets in March.
Infinova recently announced that the Shanghai WorldExpo Culture Center, shaped like a flying saucer (the “spaceship”) and one of Shanghai’s new iconic buildings, is using Infinova cameras, modems and matrix switcher to provide security for the multiple six-story facilities that make up the complex, including an 18,000 seat theater.
NICE Systems Ltd. recently announced that the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has placed a multi-million dollar order to expand its NICE implementation. DFW will be deploying NICE’s IP video surveillance solution and the NICE Inform incident information management solution.

IQinVision recently announced the University of Miami, Florida, has installed over 350 IQinVision megapixel cameras throughout its main campus in order to create a safer environment for students, staff and visitors.
Security technology is valuable at deterring criminal and illegal behavior. It is proven that the visible addition of security cameras to high-crime areas reduces criminal activity significantly. But video surveillance isn’t the only valuable service or system to effectively reduce crime. The presence of security guards also limits illicit activity that leads to loss or damage and regular visible patrols restricts the opportunity for violence.

AVG Technologies recently revealed details of a sobering study uncovering new statistics about the data security risks involved in everyday smartphone use. Findings are the result of a recent study conducted by the Ponemon Institute in concert with AVG of 734 random U.S. consumers over age 18 regarding their mobile communications behavior.
