Case Study: American Video Equipment

Cashing in on Security

IN this day and age, theft can happen anywhere and anytime, even within a company's own staff. American Video Equipment has been serving as the direct source for cash registers/EPOS overlay devices, and the VSI-PRO has helped the company's customers with reducing theft at the cash register.

VSI-PRO will overlay the received data onto the video picture, allowing it to be recorded. In the case of cash register and POS systems, it will record the transaction detail on the DVR, allowing easy retrieval of suspicious activity.

VSI-PRO will overlay the received data onto the video picture, allowing it to be recorded. In the case of cash register and POS systems, it will record the transaction detail on the DVR, allowing easy retrieval of suspicious activity.

Because employee theft consumes valuable business time, VSI-PRO has proven to be a useful tool to prosecute, but mostly prevent, dishonest employees and managers from stealing from the employer.

According to Security Cameras Direct lead sales consultant and technician Norman Ragland, "This helps increase the bottom line, which we all are trying to do. "All of our customers call back shortly after purchasing VSI-PRO to let us know that the unit has helped them catch dishonest employees in the act of theft, sweet hearting, improper discounting, under ringing, refunds and unauthorized open cash till transactions."

VSI-PRO works so well that customers often call with case studies of their own. In one case, a customer called back to let the manufacturer know that he caught his own family member that had been stealing from him for years.

"He was able to catch the family member within a week after installing the VSI-PRO," Ragland said.

How It Works
VSI-PRO overlays the POS information over the video, and everything is then recorded easily to a DVR or VCR-type of recorder. It is then able to store suspicious transactions and can even connect to a printer so the history can be printed out. Suspicious transactions can then be printed out instantly by connecting to most security DVRs. The menu and operations for the VSI-PRO is user friendly.

Besides helping keep the employer's money in the till where it belongs, VSI-PRO allows employers to keep their employees honest. If the employees know that this system is in place, the concept of doing something wrong or dishonest is greatly minimized. If an employee is unaware that the system is being used, it only takes the evidence to show them what's taking place.

"It does one thing for sure," Ragland said. "The VSI-PRO helps protect the employer's bottom line, which can help pay for itself time and time again."

A Product In Action
Security Cameras Direct is an American Video customer, and they are a supplier of loss prevention products that include security cameras, covert security cameras and DVRs. They have been using American Video's VSI-PRO at several installations.

"American Video Equipment people are always helpful and proficient at what they do," said Ragland, who headquarters in Luling, Texas. "I recommend the products to anyone that wants to save money and protect the bottom line."

He said the AVE team makes it possible for him to help his customers and solve their unique, but common problems.
