China High-Speed Rail System Uses Verint IP Video Solution

Verint Systems Inc. recently announced the People’s Republic of China Ministry of Railways has selected its Nextiva Critical Infrastructure IP video solution with integrated analytics to enhance the security of certain portions of the Beijing-Tianjin high-speed passenger rail system.

The first high-speed rail system built in mainland China, the Beijing-Tianjin circuit will feature trains reaching speeds in excess of 300 kilometers per hour. The 120 kilometer rail system will connect the cities of Beijing and Tianjin and is scheduled to be fully operational by August to support passenger transit at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

“Verint is pleased to support the security of such a critical and unique rail system that connects two of China’s most significant cities and economic centers,” said Ady Meretz, vice president and general manager of Verint Systems Asia Pacific. “Nextiva continues to be the video solution of choice for transit and critical infrastructure organizations around the world as they respond to a host of emerging threats and security challenges.”

The Nextiva Critical Infrastructure solution will be deployed to enhance the security of traction substation facilities located along the electrified high-speed railway. Railway security personnel will use the integrated suite of video analytics to secure unmanned perimeters around the facilities, identify unauthorized personnel or vehicles, and proactively identify security events before they escalate.
