HSM Electronic Protection Services Changes Name, Brand

HSM Electronic Protection Services Inc. (HSM) recently announced the formation of Stanley Convergent Security Solutions Inc., combining Stanley Systems Integration (SI) and HSM, a move that acknowledges the market need to advance to beyond just alarm systems and realign to accommodate the integration of security systems with IT infrastructure.

“The combination is a great fit,” said Brett Bontrager, president of Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, a part of the Stanley Works (SWK). “The name reflects a broad, contemporary and forward-thinking direction -- which identifies the Stanley connection -- and accommodates both SI’s and HSM’s services, products and capabilities under one business.

“While we wanted to take advantage of the strong name recognition that Stanley has across the board in commercial, national accounts and residential markets, we recognize that a good portion of HSM’s business was integration work, while SI customers are interested in HSM’s additional value-added services. Bringing the two under one entity creates a new powerhouse in the security industry. We will also connect to the Stanley Security Solutions (SSS) halo brand logo to demonstrate the full breadth of our security platform at the Stanley Works, which includes both electronic and mechanical security solutions. Stanley has been extremely pleased with its acquisition of HSM which took place about one year ago. Their financial performance, leadership team, RMR growth, marketing expertise, strength in customer satisfaction and overall employee contributions to Stanley have been stellar.”

“We are the same business at heart, focusing on being the premier electronic security provider with a local touch now backed by global resources,” said Tony Byerly, CEO of Stanley Convergent Security Solutions Inc. “With our cutting-edge eServices, five customer touch points and exceptional customer service, we are now truly bringing this to the integration level. The expertise and sophistication of our SI team members are second to none and brings a new dimension to what HSM offered alone.

“Our company focus remains commercial, industrial and government accounts, with about 45% percent representing multi-site national account companies. The combining of both companies (HSM and SI) harnesses the

power of not only the Stanley brand, but the expertise and capabilities of our associates, infrastructure and national footprint.”

The combining of the two organizations to form Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, Inc. (Stanley CSS) allows the company to further expand relationships with strategic vendor partners, such as Honeywell, Lenel, GE and ADI, giving customers access to more technology and service options.

Harnessing the HSM brand that has built considerable momentum over the past three years throughout the industry and with its customers, especially in the national account arena, the HSM National Account Program will remain branded with the same name.

“In talks with our national account customers, while they recognize, value and trust the new Stanley brand name, they felt a strong connection to the HSM National Account Program,” Byerly said. “We decided, then, from a cohesive standpoint, we will continue to brand our national account program  under the same HSM product brand simply as an offering by Stanley CSS. National accounts have been and continue to be one of our most successful sales channels.”

The HSM National Account Program features standardized service offerings, special eServices, priority service response and the trend-setting, cutting-edge National Account Performance Scorecard that lets customers view the company’s performance on their specific account against the five customer touchpoints.
