Panasonic To Provide IP-Based Surveillance System At New MLS Stadium

When a new Major League Soccer stadium and waterfront complex opens in 2010 just south of Philadelphia, along the historic Delaware River in Chester, Pa., it will incorporate a networked surveillance system based on Internet protocol from Panasonic System Solutions Company.

The dominant use of Panasonic technologies will be reflected throughout the venue with stadium marks, logos and branding on the main scoreboard and LED signage. In addition to providing the security/surveillance system, Panasonic will be the exclusive provider of broadcast and TV production systems, large screen LED displays, and point-of-sale systems.

As the surveillance system provider, Panasonic is slated to supply i-Pro network video surveillance solutions, including its leading line of IP cameras, NVRs and servers, and IP-based network management and control software. Both indoor and weatherproof outdoor cameras will provide safety, security, and crowd management control using the latest end-to-end imaging technology from Panasonic.

Keystone Sports and Entertainment LLC, the Major League Soccer (MLS) Philadelphia 2010 ownership group, will count on Panasonic as the “Official Technology Partner” to ensure fans get a world-class experience.

“Panasonic is a name respected around the globe, recognized for their innovation in consumer electronics and business technology products,” said Nick Sakiewicz, CEO and operating partner of Keystone Sports and Entertainment. “This partnership will extend throughout the entire waterfront redevelopment project.”

An area within the new complex called “The Panasonic Experience” will highlight the newest technology innovations for home and business. Visitors will be able to experience these technologies firsthand and how they help improve their daily lives.

“We are very excited to join with Keystone Sports and Entertainment, Major League Soccer and the city of Chester to build a state of the art stadium and mixed-use waterfront development that delivers a world-class technology experience,” said J.M. Allain, president of Panasonic System Solutions Company. “Panasonic is in a unique position to provide such a broad and comprehensive range of integrated systems employing best in breed technologies.”

A groundbreaking ceremony was held in the historic city of Chester, Pa., in December for the 18,500-seat multi-purpose soccer and sports stadium that will be constructed at the foot of the Commodore Barry Bridge, just 13 miles from downtown Philadelphia.

The stadium will feature an 11,000-square-foot club, 30 suites, a built-in concert stage for world-class music shows, and a special 2,000 seat zone for the Sons of Ben supporters club. The new stadium is the centerpiece of a $500 million entertainment, retail, residential and commercial development covering more than 100 acres along the Delaware River waterfront.
