Singapore Transportation Provider Selects March Networks Technology

March Networks, a provider of intelligent IP video and business analysis applications, announced recently that the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) has selected the company’s VideoSphere solution for enhanced passenger and staff security.

The authority will use the solution to expand its March Networks surveillance system and support the centralized storage and management of IP video across the North-South and East-West transit network operated SMRT Corporation Ltd (SMRT).

LTA is the body responsible for all land transportation development in the country, including the SMRT surveillance expansion. It will deploy VideoSphere Video Management System (VMS) Software, hybrid video encoding platforms, and health management software to support the installation of additional cameras in 51 SMRT train stations.

The VMS is high-performance server software that runs on industry-standard host and storage platforms. It enables organizations to deploy IP or hybrid video networks that are open, scalable and fully distributed and realize significant infrastructure and administrative cost-savings.

SMRT currently serves more than 1.4 million passengers daily via the 89.4 kilometer (55.5 mile) North-South and East-West transit corridor, which includes street-level, underground and above-ground stations linking light rail and bus routes.

Staff at SMRT will use the expanded surveillance system to quickly retrieve and review archived video of transit station activity as required. The VideoSphere management software also enables staff to remotely monitor the health of the entire video network and address potential issues proactively to ensure optimum system performance.

Installation and support services will be provided by O’Connor’s Singapore Pte. Ltd., an experienced systems integrator and certified March Networks provider.

“Organizations such as LTA and SMRT continue to focus on providing a secure environment for their passengers and staff,” said Peter Strom, president and CEO, March Networks. “Our VideoSphere solution enables them to accomplish that goal by preserving their existing surveillance investments and providing the latest IP video capabilities in one integrated, high-performance system.”

This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.”
