3VR Announces Integration With Schlage’s bright blue Intelligent Access Management System

3VR Security Inc., the searchable surveillance platform, recently announced new integration with Schlage’s bright blue intelligent access management software.

The solution allows users of bright blue’s Web-based access control system to search and manage video in a new, simple video interface using 3VR’s searchable surveillance technology. The integration furthermore underscores both 3VR and Schlage’s commitment to delivering plug-and-play solutions that support a broad range of common surveillance systems and cameras.

“This integration is the perfect example of how small- and medium-sized businesses can maintain a sophisticated security environment without the intense work generally associated with gathering information from separate systems,” said Mitchell Kane, director of software and controllers at Schlage. “bright blue gives users the freedom to access their system from anywhere, at any time, and with 3VR they are now able to view, search and analyze associated video, making it an even more powerful access control/CCTV solution.”

Launched in February, bright blue is the first embedded network appliance to give small business owners the ability to access and manage points of entry from the Web. Supporting up to 32 doors and 5,000 cardholders, the system offers an intuitive user interface, simple implementation and compatibility with Schlage card readers, VIP and wireless locks and most common third-party card readers.

3VR combines video analysis, search and intelligent video management in an integrated surveillance solution that prevents fraud and enables efficient investigations. Using the plug-and-play approach, 3VR and bright blue make it possible for business owners and security personnel to quickly and easily find video clips by searching the transactions of persons passing through access control checkpoints.

With each card swipe, data is sent directly into the 3VR system, where it is indexed and linked to the associated video. Ideally tailored to small/medium-sized businesses, the integration features a simple and usable interface, is quick to install and integrates hassle-free with a variety of hardware options, vastly reducing implementation costs.

“3VR’s intelligent video management platform and powerful search technology is a great fit with bright blue’s commitment to advanced, usable and cost-effective access management,” said Al Shipp, CEO at 3VR Security Inc. “The simplicity of this integration sets it apart, providing our customers the ability to rapidly and seamlessly manage, analyze and search secure data, significantly improving the basic safety and security of their facilities and businesses.”

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
