New Educational Programs Premier At ISC West

ISC has rebuilt its educational programming with a curriculum that addresses the immediate needs, challenges and issues of the individual professional sectors serving the security industry. The new program, to be launched at ISC West will now offer physical security and network professionals training and education based on their specific job functions -- with individual tracks and sessions focused on those functions. In turn, conference attendees will have the ability to better identify specific content that matches and meets their individual needs.

The development of this newly enhanced program March 31-April 2 comes from a mix of thought leaders, end-users (including law enforcement and campus security), integrators and adult education experts through the development of an Education Advisory Board in partnership with the Security Industry Association (SIA). Members of the Advisory Board are involved in helping shape the curriculum for all job functions and levels. They play an important role in helping identify speakers and specific session topics. The goal is to deliver the most meaningful and critical educational programming that advances the industry and further increases an organization’s productivity and efficiency.

“This is a big first step in a multi-year initiative with SIA to reorganize and restructure ISC Education at both ISC West and ISC East. Ultimately we will become an aggregator of leading education and certification throughout the security industry,” said Ed Nichols, industry vice president of he ISC events.

“Our commitment to education and training is strong, as is our goal to become the pre-eminent place for security professionals to advance their organization’s goals as well as their own,” said Richard Chace, CEO of the Security Industry Association.

“In an industry where technology continues to advance at a rapid rate, we felt it was imperative to create a board of industry experts that had their finger on the pulse and had the ability to provide insight and vision into the topics that are most important across a variety of job functions and disciplines,” said Christine Ford, director of industry development for the ISC Events.

“Making training more relevant and useful is going to benefit all of the industry’s stakeholders. Developing programming around job functions for both physical and logical security professionals is going to prepare professionals for the future,” saidScott Chillemi, SIA’s Education Committee Chair.

The new Education programs will be launched at ISC West with more than 100 individual sessions across seven tracks, addressing the key issues facing the physical security industry. Tracks include: Business Development/Management and Sales, Architecture/Design and Engineering, End-User Solutions, Dealer/Installer/Integrator, Security Management, IT/IP Convergence and Central Station.
