AlliedBarton Security Services Launches New Customer Service Program

AlliedBarton Security Services launches a new customer service program, presents to show delegates and continues sustainable practices through a donation to a local organization at BOMA International Convention and Office Building Show. This year's show will take place June 28-30 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

"Our new Security Ambassador program takes customer service to a new level through a shared focus on customer service and security," said Mike Coleman, vice president of commercial real estate for AlliedBarton, a provider of highly trained security personnel.

The Security Ambassador program was created in response to the need for a multi-functional security officer, whose role as a customer service representative is equally important to their security role. The program, which elevates the customer service aspects of the traditional security role, was developed from AlliedBarton best practices currently in use at the Comcast Center in Philadelphia and the Hearst Tower in New York City. The common factor at these facilities was the need to fill a dual role. The Security Ambassadors provide an increased level of customer service in addition to security protection in order to both welcome and protect tenants and visitors.

Showcasing this initiative, AlliedBarton Security Ambassadors will take the floor at BOMA, providing security and customer service for the event.

AlliedBarton's Vice President of Learning and Development, Rich Cordivari, and Liberty Property Trust's Director of Security, Jim Birch, will give a presentation, Tuesday, June 30, on The Importance of Customer Service at Every Level, a topic that highlights the great ideas behind the Security Ambassador.

In keeping with sustainability goals, AlliedBarton has again chosen to "go green" during BOMA.

"Instead of a traditional tradeshow booth, we will again purchase furniture, which we will use in our exhibit space and donate the furniture to the Philadelphia Police Athletic League after the show," Coleman said. "By utilizing only the graphics from our traditional tradeshow booth, we are drastically reducing the shipping, labor and costs normally associated with a large tradeshow booth. We are proud to support BOMA's and our own sustainability initiatives with this effort. This is our fourth consecutive BOMA show where we've been able to support a local organization, such as PAL, with a large furniture donation."

PAL is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people. By providing free educational, athletic and cultural after-school programs in a safe environment, PAL teaches life skills and provides experiences essential for youth to become successful and productive citizens.

"The Police Athletic League of Philadelphia is extremely grateful to AlliedBarton for their generous donation of numerous items of furniture and carpeting from their display at the BOMA convention," said Capt. Michael Weaver, Commanding Officer of PAL. "The chairs, couches, and tables will be placed at one of our PAL Centers for the use of our PAL youngsters and staff. AlliedBarton's unique contribution is a shining example of the public-private partnership between PAL and the corporate community in the Philadelphia area."

  • The Evolution of IP Camera Intelligence

As the 30th anniversary of the IP camera approaches in 2026, it is worth reflecting on how far we have come. The first network camera, launched in 1996, delivered one frame every 17 seconds—not impressive by today’s standards, but groundbreaking at the time. It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
