DVTel Project Wins Design-Build Award From Institute Of America

DVTel Inc. recently announced the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission was recognized with a Project of the Year Award from the Design-Build Institute of America’s New York Tri-State Metro Region for its $22.6 million security project, for which DVTel provided the command and control software solution.

Each year DBIA honors people and projects in design-build through a variety of awards. These awards recognize successful design-build projects in the United States where the design and construction aspects are contracted for with a single entity.

“The design-build method of contract delivery is a single source integrated system that fosters timely and efficient completion of projects.  The design build projects are being completed more economically and more efficiently.” said Loryn Riggiola, president of the New York Tri-State Metro Region of the Design-Build Institute of America. “We no longer have the contractor saying it’s a problem with the design and the design professional pointing to the contractor.  There is single source accountability for the project.”

The extensive security project involves installing surveillance cameras at 18 bridges to detect and manage traffic problems and public safety issues. The DRJTBC is a bi-state transportation agency that owns, operates, and maintains 20 vehicular and pedestrian bridges along 140 miles of the Delaware River between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

DVTel, Mass Electric Construction Co., Siemens Industry, and MATE teamed up to design, furnish, construct, install, integrate, and maintain a fully operational electronic surveillance and detection system to include video surveillance, intelligent video, building access control, intrusion detection, a central control center, and communications systems for video and data transmissions. DVTel provided its intelligent Security Operations Center (iSOC) to provide for single operation of the entire system.

“DVTel is proud to be part of the award winning Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission security project,” said Eli Gorovici, President and CEO of DVTel, Inc. “DVTel is committed to delivering an open-platform solution with a successful track record for safeguarding critical infrastructure, of which this project exemplifies.”

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
