San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot Adds Biometric-Based Access Control System

Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Western Recruiting Region, San Diego has implemented the RAPIDGate Program to increase installation security.

The patented program, offered by Eid Passport, is available by installation approval to new and existing vendors, suppliers, service providers and contractors who require routine access to MCRD. As an added benefit, the program provides streamlined access to the installation, typically resulting in increased efficiency and cost savings for enrolled companies.

MCRD has implemented the RAPIDGate Program in proactive pursuit of efficient installation security. The program includes company enrollment, employee registration, employment status validation, identity authentication, background screening, biometric verification and entry authorization for vendors, suppliers, service providers and contractors that are not authorized to receive a government-issued Common Access Card (CAC).

Companies that choose not to participate in the RAPIDGate Program are required to demonstrate and provide proof, in the form of a letter certified by the company and subject to Government audit, that each of their employees was processed through background checks in accordance with Department of Defense, United States Marine Corps and MCRD requirements.

Enforcement of these new security measures began on May 18. Companies are being encouraged to enroll and register their employees immediately.

“The security and safety of each recruit that is training to protect our country is vitally important,” said Eid Passport CEO Steve Larson. “We are proud to be a part of ensuring the safety of all those accessing MCRD San Diego, which is the West Coast location for Marine Corps recruiting training. And because the RAPIDGate Program increases the efficiency of security measures through cutting-edge technology, both the installation and our vendors can also save time and money.”
