Tech America Committee Elects HID Global's Kathleen Carroll

HID Global's Director of Government Relations Kathleen Carroll has been elected chair of TechAmerica’s identity management committee. Carroll has been vice chair of the committee for the past two years and will now serve as chair through 2012.

The committee provides the industry with a forum for working with federal and state governments to develop identity authentication and verification best practices and also promotes the use of technology to increase the security of identity management systems. The group focuses on such issues as the Homeland Security Presidential Elective (HSPD)-12, health identity authentication, biometrics, the Real ID Act, RFID, and federated identity and government credentialing programs. It hosts an annual ID management policy conference and monthly ID management breakfast briefings.

“We are very proud of Kathleen and her work as a leading privacy advocate for HID’s customers and for the industry as a whole,” said Denis Hébert, HID Global’s president and CEO. “Kathleen is a widely acknowledged expert in privacy policy and best practices, and we know she will make significant contributions as chair of TechAmerica’s identity management committee.”

“I am extremely honored to be elected chair of this important committee,” Carroll said. “As the industry continues to innovate and develop new information technologies to improve our lives, it is imperative that we simultaneously protect the security of personal data. This is the goal of TechAmerica’s identity management committee, and I am committed to advancing the organization’s mission.”

Carroll also serves as chair of the Security Industry Association (SIA) State Policy Advocacy Working Group, which strives to educate legislators, business leaders and consumers about radio frequency technology and its benefits across a spectrum of applications.
