SightLogix Posts Whitepaper on Best Practices for Outdoor Video Analytics

SightLogix, which supplies outdoor video analytics for perimeter security, is offering a new whitepaper titled “Best Practices for Securing Outdoor Areas with Video Analytics.” The document offers tips and practical advice for deploying accurate and cost-effective video security outdoors.

“As a leader in providing video analytic systems for securing outdoor perimeters, we’ve learned many best practices over the years that help our integration partners and customers eliminate risk, lower costs and increase security effectiveness,” said John Romanowich, SightLogix president and CEO. “We’ve gathered the most important approaches into this whitepaper to benefit those who have an interest in using video analytics to protect outdoor facilities.”

The SightLogix whitepaper explores issues and challenges that integrators face when implementing outdoor video surveillance systems and provides appropriate solutions. For example, the document explains how GPS position data helps video analytic cameras make accurate size and speed determinations while pinpointing target locations for effective response. Other best practices include how to address blind spots under the camera, strategies for determining a camera’s true detection range, and using from/to zones to filter movement that would otherwise cause nuisance alarms. The paper also presents SightSurvey, a Web-based perimeter security design tool that can be used to model a camera layout using Google Maps.
