FedEx Field Uses Biometrics-Based Visitor Credential System

Telos ID has delivered its Mobile Authentication and Authorization Control (MAAC) Visitors system to FedExField, home of the Washington Redskins, substantially enhancing visitor tracking and accountability.

An expansion of the previously deployed MAAC Access system used to credential and verify employees and contractors at the stadium, the MAAC Visitors system extends identity management to include temporary visitors. The system issues temporary badges to visitors, VIPs and contractors requiring access to the facility for day-to-day business as well as on game or event days.

Identifying information is entered into the MAAC system manually or by scanning documentation. As part of the initial verification process, a visitor is checked against watch lists and if clear, a temporary badge is issued to the individual. Badges are customizable by date and facility access. The MAAC Visitors system captures and logs detailed information to provide a complete access history.

“Recently we were asked to verify the dates of attendance for some special clients,” said Ed Burke, director of security for FedExField. “With the MAAC Visitors system, we were able to quickly verify their attendance on the date in question.”

In February 2010, Telos ID announced it had delivered the MAAC Access system to credential and verify the identities of employees and contractors at FedExField, home of the Washington Redskins.

Built using technologies developed to meet the rigorous security requirements of the Federal government and the Department of Defense, MAAC is a versatile system that leverages a broad range of biometrics devices, and integrates with multiple human resource management, scheduling and payroll systems. MAAC is capable of using simple matching or advanced multi-modal biometrics, and its verification software can operate on mobile or handheld verification devices.
