The Economy Is Smokin'

I think my feet have the flu. They are surely complaining after the first day of ISC West. There is lots of hustle on the show floor, and every exhibitor I talked to on opening day agreed -- business is booming.

I’m excited to share what I found the first day of ISC West.

  • Pivot3 officials announced they have been selected as an authorized supplier for video surveillance storage solutions for Siemens Security Solutions. It’s a big deal because the system is scalable and an energy saver. It’s a big deal for Siemens, who has already installed the Pivot3 appliances in more than a dozen large-scale installations, including gaming, airport and pharmaceuticals.
  • Honeywell kicked off my ISC West experience with a breakfast to announce a focus beyond security. The company’s integrated platform will now include reaches to the connected home and smart buildings. Officials also realize that IP is the wave of the future, but in the meantime, analog is still dominant, and the company is anxiously engaged with those end users still using legacy equipment.  However, the company are introducing a new series of IP high-definition cameras that work well in low-light atmosphere without affecting the bandwidth.
  • VideoIQ introduced its new ATM vestibule monitoring that allows banks and other financial service institutions to be notified of loitering and respond in real-time through two-way audio. This eliminates a potential security situation for bank customers.
  • New to the security industry, Raytheon announced its Clear View security solutions, which instantly detect and assess intrusions that will enable quick and effective responses. The solution is based on decades of experience capturing and integrating sensor data. aAnd it provides tracking and correlation capabilities used in verticals such as airport security.
  • Airphone Corp. is bringing out its next generation of IP video intecoms with version IS Series IP Video Intercom. It’s a network-based communication system and all-in-one control system that features video entry, internal communication, rescue assistance, paging and bell/chime scheduling. It also allows the end user to identify and help people from another location’ whether next door or halfway around the world.
  • Last week, we announced the winners of our GovSec security product awards competition. One of the winners is on display at ISC West from System Sensor, with its CO1224TR carbon monoxide detector. It is the first and only field functional CO test fully compliant with NFPA 720:2009.
  • Salient Systems has integrated with Axis Communications’ One-Click Camera Connection, CompleteView, VMS. This is an interesting method of deploying video security solution and new video surveillance as a service is more practical due to H.264 video compression. This announcement is especially interesting because the VMS will integrate with the camera seamlessly, regardless of Internet provider.

There’s a lot more to see, and two more days to traverse the tradeshow floor. I have a full schedule of appointments, but if you see me trekking the hall, please stop me and let’s chat for a moment. I’m interested in your product, solution and its applications.
