Experian to Offer Discounted Monitoring Services to 3.5 Million Texans Affected by Data Breach

As millions of Texans begin to recover from hearing the news that their personal information was exposed, Experian's ProtectMyID has reached an agreement with the State of Texas that will offer identity theft monitoring services at a substantially reduced fee to the 3.5 million consumers affected by the State of Texas data breach. Experian's Irvine, Calif.-based ProtectMyID is a full-service provider of identity theft detection, protection and fraud resolution.

"We understand the gravity of this unfortunate situation and have reached an agreement with the State of Texas to offer consumers online identity theft monitoring services for one year," said Jennifer Leuer, general manager of Experian's ProtectMyID. "With any data breach, and particularly when a large number of victims are involved, it's important to set up identity theft monitoring services, which can help to ensure that any subsequent activity on one's account is legitimate."
