Genetec's Security Center 5.0 Supports Bosch G Series Control Panels

Genetec’s Security Center 5.0, the latest version of the company’s unified security platform, now supports Bosch G Series Control Panels for intrusion detection. With the aim of expanding the unification capabilities of the platform, Security Center 5.0 was released with native support of third-party intrusion panels; Bosch's GV2 and GV3 models are among the first systems supported.

Ultimately, the new integration offers users a single and easy-to-use platform from which to manage and monitor their video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection systems. Users can arm and disarm panels manually via the Security Center user interface or automatically via scheduled tasks and in response to security events. Operators also can run reports to view alarm panels' events and alarms. Through Genetec's Federation feature, Bosch intrusion panels integrated within remote Security Center installations can be federated back to an organization's headquarters or central offices, allowing operators to run intrusion reports across dozens or hundreds of remote sites.

The Security Center allows users to associate video cameras to intrusion zones and alarms, thereby providing operators with the ability to perform video verification of intrusion alarms prior to dispatching security personnel or local law enforcement. On the configuration front, the Security Center will automatically discover a Bosch intrusion panel's configuration and enroll the panel and its settings including partition and zone information.

"Genetec and Bosch have a strong partnership in the video surveillance market for many years now, so we are happy to extend our partnership into the intrusion space," says Jimmy Palatsoukas, senior product manager at Genetec. "The integration of Security Center 5.0 and the Bosch G Series panels will allow customers to unify intrusion panel monitoring with access control and video, reducing the number of applications they need to run and streamlining their overall security operations."

Bosch's G Series Control Panels support up to 32 areas, each with perimeter and interior partitioning, offering an integrated and scalable security system for a variety of applications. With remote management capabilities, there is no need for onsite programming, or enabling and disabling of certain functions, keeping service costs to a minimum. Bosch's G Series also supports a new touch screen keypad with built-in help menus and a bright graphical screen, making it easy for anyone to use.

"G Series is the product of choice for a wide range of commercial and government organizations. Its flexibility makes it a great fit for virtually any facility configuration," said Tom Mechler, product marketing manager, Bosch Security Systems Inc. "The integration with Genetec allows our customers to display critical intrusion information and operate the system via the Security Center interface. Customers will benefit from improved operator efficiency and greater situational awareness of intrusion alarms."

  • Evolving Cybersecurity Strategies

Organizations are increasingly turning their attention to human-focused security approaches, as two out of three (68%) cybersecurity incidents involve people. Threat actors are shifting from targeting networks and systems to hacking humans via social engineering methods, living off human errors as their most prevalent attack vector. Whether manipulated or not, human cyber behavior is leveraged to gain backdoor access into systems. This mainly results from a lack of employee training and awareness about evolving attack techniques employed by malign actors. Read Now
