Xe Services Names Michael Cauldwell as Senior Vice President of Business Development

USTC Holdings LLC, the investor consortium that acquired Xe Services LLC including its main holding U.S. Training Center Inc. (USTC) in December 2010, announced that Michael Cauldwell has been named the company’s senior vice president of business development. He will join Xe’s management team with a focus on expanding the company’s portfolio of government and commercial customers and contributing to Xe’s latest chapter of growth under new ownership and leadership.

Cauldwell, who will join Xe Services July 11, has an exemplary track record of spearheading growth in the defense and technical services industries. Most recently as vice president of competitive operations at BAE Systems, he has successfully led business development efforts during the course of his career.

In 2004, Cauldwell co-founded Command Technologies Inc., an engineering and technology applications company serving a variety of defense and intelligence community customers. The company was later sold to MTC Technologies, where Cauldwell served as executive vice president and group executive, achieving the highest growth objectives of three of the corporate operating groups.

“Mike’s addition to our management team is another great leap forward in the company’s growth prospects,” said Ted Wright, CEO of Xe Services. “His ability to identify and develop new opportunities will allow us to deliver Xe’s industry-leading operational excellence to an expanded roster of government and private-sector clients.”

“I’m very excited by the vision of Xe’s leadership and the best-in-class services the company provides clients around the world,” Cauldwell said. “I look forward to applying my skills in a way that contributes to Xe’s extraordinary new chapter of leadership and continued operational excellence.”

Upon acquiring Xe and its core operating businesses last year, USTC Holdings LLC indicated its desire to rebuild the company, now totally divested of its previous leadership, into a new entity with enhanced governance, leadership, accountability and transparency. Cauldwell’s addition to the management team represents the next step in this new phase of corporate development.

USTC is a provider of training and security services focused on worldwide operations in support of the United States government and other customers.

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
