Country Maid Installs Brivo Cloud-Based Access Control Throughout Campus

Country Maid Inc., manufacturer of the Butter Braid braided pastry product line, has installed Brivo ACS WebService throughout its new production and administration complex in Iowa.

The company added Brivo System in their new production facility, headquarters building, and warehouse in an effort to comply with FDA regulations and Boterrorisim Act requirements.

Brivo's hosted solution integrates with video surveillance and doesn't require clients to use servers or software.

“We wanted the flexibility to manage multiple groups and schedules—our standard production workers, office staff, evening sanitation crews, and a host of other groups," said Mark Bancwart, systems integration specialist. "It’s nice to be able to see where people enter the facilities, where people are going, are they trying to access a management office. We are able to audit where people go throughout the buildings and throughout the day. The FDA and the Bioterrorism Act require us to know who has been where and at what times."

Country Maid is currently managing 35 doors and 10 door-like access points such as roll-up doors and freezers. With the new security system in place, staff can monitor when someone opens or closes a delivery, emergency and freezer doors. In addition, employees and contractors have unique privileges based on what areas they need to access and when.

"The system does everything we’ve asked and more, and we really feel that we can grow and scale and do even more with it," Bancwart said. "One clear indicator of success is that over time I spend less and less time with the interface, just maintenance now, yet I’m extremely confident that everything is working correctly and I can verify this through the reporting—all is correct or I simply tweak it and everything flows nicely.”
