Vivotek Goes Green and Adapterless

VIVOTEK is going green and eliminating power adapters for network cameras that are PoE compliant.

PoE technology describes a system to pass electrical power safely, along with data, on Ethernet cabling. A conventional network camera relies on an adapter for power supply and an Ethernet cable for data transmission. Developed by the IEEE802.3af task force, PoE allows for power to be supplied over the same Ethernet cable, thus removing the use of additional cables.

"The adoption of PoE is accelerating as a result of the increasing need of IP-based surveillance solutions," said William Ku, Director of Brand Business at VIVOTEK. "VIVOTEK has been in the business for more than a decade and is always ready to respond to the rapidly changing market demands."

Since its establishment in 2000, VIVOTEK has been cooperating with more than 150 distributors in over 80 countries worldwide. With extensive market coverage around the globe, VIVOTEK influences the lives of many people, particularly industry professionals and users. Drawing from VIVOTEK’s extensive experiences in security installation all over the world, Ku points out that the number of solutions deploying PoE compliant network cameras is on the rise.

“As the leading brand and provider of IP-based solutions, VIVOTEK values the environment and takes pride in setting a fine example for members of the security industry. Power adopters will no longer be included in all shipments of VIVOTEK PoE compliant models,” Ku added.
