Tips for Having a Safe Halloween

With Halloween almost upon us, making sure your children enjoy a safe holiday is on the mind of every parent. With these critical Halloween safety tips, you can ensure your children enjoy a night full of treats – with no tricks to be found.

When trick-or-treating with your children, it is important to always remain alert. Do not go to any dark or unlit houses, and be careful of any passing motorists on your street or neighborhood. Light colors and reflective tape on your children’s costumes will see to it that motorists can see them, even in the dark of the night. It is also best to keep your children’s costumes short to prevent any possible tripping. If your child is wearing a mask, make sure that they can see sufficiently out of it.

Of course, accompany your children as they trick-or-treat. Don’t go into a stranger’s house, and definitely do not consume any homemade or unwrapped candy. When you get home, inspect your children’s candy before you allow them to eat it. Only eat unopened candy in the original wrapper, so you will know it’s safe.

With these simple Halloween safety tips, your children’s holiday can be spooky for all the right reasons.
