DRS Technologies Launches Custom Lens Calibration Software

DRS Technologies Inc., a Finmeccanica Company, announced recently the launch of DRS Camera Control Software v1.5. This new version of the application software enables OEM system integrators to perform custom lens calibration.

DRS Camera Control Software is a graphical user interface that simplifies access to camera features and is included in the Tamarisk Product Documentation Package made available to all customers who purchase a Tamarisk module from the Network and Imaging Systems (NIS) division of DRS Technologies. The custom lens calibration utility is integral to the camera control software. By entering a single activation code, users have the ability to calibrate for an unlimited number of custom lenses across the entire Tamarisk product line. This exclusive access enables systems integrators to compensate for unique lens and system effects when embedding a factory calibrated thermal imaging module as part of a system or simply modifying the module with a custom lens solution of their choice.

With this custom lens calibration software utility, the range of possible optical solutions is expanded, allowing integrators greater flexibility to meet challenging applications. Calibration of a custom lens solution can be achieved in as little as five minutes per module, making multiple camera systems and large installations viable. Additionally, v1.5 includes other enhanced features, including a firmware upload tool to enable module upgrades in the field; a pixel-marking tool to modify and store a custom pixel map, and a “customer flash sector” (block of memory allocated for customer use) for identifying custom camera configurations.

“We are confident that DRS’ customers will appreciate the degree to which our latest camera control software increases control over their product designs and applications they bring to market,” said NIS President Terry Murphy. “DRS Camera Control Software Version 1.5 offers systems integrators a distinct competitive edge, enabling much faster calibration times than other products in this category and more freedom to customize their solutions to meet a broad range of exciting applications.”

DRS Camera Control Software v1.5 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit/32-bit) and Windows XP (64-bit/32-bit) with SP3 operating systems.
