Streaming Networks and Bosch Partner to Expand License Plate Recognition Integration Capabilities

Streaming Networks and Bosch Partner to Expand License Plate Recognition Integration CapabilitiesA new partnership between Bosch Security Systems, Inc. and Streaming Networks will deliver integrated license plate recognition functionality within the Video Management System (VMS) v4.5 from Bosch. The two companies are working together to give customers greater capabilities for gathering vehicle information as part of their security surveillance infrastructure.

Streaming Networks’ iRecord License Plate LPR-100 reads retro-reflective license plates found in the U.S. and Canada. It is powered by the company’s innovative optical character recognition (OCR) engine, allowing it to accurately read plates even when they are improperly aligned, partially hidden by plate frames or have vertically stacked characters. When paired with license plate capture cameras from Bosch—such as the DINION capture product family—the system delivers consistent, high-quality images of vehicle license plates even in low-light conditions or when headlight or sun glare are present.

“Streaming Networks optical character recognition is focused on assisting customers in tackling real-world security and surveillance issues, such as reading license plates under challenging conditions. We are excited to partner with Bosch to deliver this cutting-edge, OCR solution to global customers,” said Ayub Khan, CEO Streaming Networks, Santa Clara, CA.

Bosch customers can now view the iRecord License Plate LPR-100 device page in the main VMS window as just another local edge storage device. This integration makes it easier for operators to access license plate data, which can help them to enhance security around perimeters, improve parking management and toll collection and assist with other similar needs.

“The open availability of our integration tools enables partners to leverage Bosch products to create unique solutions that meet a specific market need,” said Brad Eck, integration manager, North America, Bosch Security Systems, Inc., “We look forward to furthering the partnership with Streaming Networks to provide our mutual customers with greater capabilities for gathering vehicle information that can help mitigate risk and improve overall security.”

With Bosch’s VMS, operators know instantly what is happening in the entire organization. It reduces the complexity of video management, allowing personnel to operate more efficiently and effectively. It can support configurations ranging from a single standalone system to multi-site large-scale enterprise applications with an unlimited number of cameras.
