iPhone and Dog Team Up to Protect Child from Abuse

iPhone and Dog Team Up to Protect Child from Abuse

With the unveiling of the iPhone 5s last week, the excitement seemed to center around Apple offering iPhone users a distinct way to protect the data that they carry around with them on their smartphones. No doubt that this is very important to your safety and security, but one South Carolina family is forever thankful not only to their iPhone’s ability to record sound but to their dog, as well.

Thinking they had found the perfect person to care and nurture their son, the Jordan family was happy to hire Alexis Khan to babysit their 7-month-old child, Finn. For about 5 months, things seemed to be going smoothly; however, Killian, the family’s dog, started showing signs of protectiveness toward Finn whenever Khan was around. There were even a few occasions in which Killian had to be physically restrained.

Deciding to trust their dog as well as their iPhone, Finn’s mother, Hope, set up the voice recorder on their smartphone and placed it under the couch when Khan was “caring” for Finn.

Recording for 7.5 hours, the iPhone results proved horrifying, capturing Khan shouting obscenities at Finn as well as slapping sounds followed by sharp cries of pain.

The recording was enough to land Khan in jail for one to three years and place her on a child abuse registry, preventing her from working with children for the remainder of her life.

We have all heard that dog is man’s best friend, but when teamed up with an iPhone, the human-canine bond is unstoppable, saving baby Finn from being abused and possibly saving the infant’s life.
