Gunman Opened Fire at TSA Checkpoint at LAX

Gunman Opened Fire at TSA Checkpoint at LAXFor those flying into and out of LAX, be warned that you will need extra time and patience. There is currently an FAA ground stop in place for flights coming into LAX, because this morning at approximately 9:30am a man wearing camouflage and a high-powered rifle entered LAX Terminal 3 that services AirTran, Alaska, Horizon, JetBlue, V Australia and Virgin America, and opened. It is unclear at this time how the gunman got through security.

Multiple shootings occurred, while people screamed, and either got down on the ground, hid under chairs or ran.

According to Bill Reiter’s Twitter account, “After the initial burst of gunfire and hiding, people started jumping over one another, jumping off chairs, pushing each other. Chaos & fear.”

One eyewitness said that the shooter was angrily shouting while he was shooting.

The gunman has been reportedly shot in the leg and has been taken into custody, while the Los Angeles Police Department is on citywide tactical alert.

Several sources have reported that a 25-year-old, female, ticketing agent was shot, along with a TSA agent, who has died from the gunshot wound in the hospital. And, there is a third person who was injured.

According to law enforcement, a large box of ammunition has been found at the scene, and there is no indication or confirmation of a second shooter.

This is an actively-occurring incident, so stay tuned here as well as on Twitter @GingerHill13 for updates! The picture above taken from social media shows the chaos and confusion at LAX!
