Mission 500 Charity Organization Announces 2014 Corporate Social Responsibility and Humanitarian Award Winners

Mission 500, a charitable organization engaging security professionals to sponsor needy children through the World Vision organization, announces the winners of its annual Humanitarian and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) awards. The awards are designed to honor companies and individuals in the security industry who make important contributions to those in need.

Protection 1 is being honored with the 2014 Mission 500 CSR award.

Protection 1 has a unique community involvement program as it combines their national presence with local efforts. Each location is encouraged to contribute to their community in a manner of their choosing. At the same time, P1 hosts national events to help energize these efforts.

Their 1 For All program is both national and local. Nationally, they host All For 1 Day, a service day, and Food For All Month, a food drive. With each of these events, their locations are encouraged to participate by helping out a local organization. Their staff is very involved in this project as it is up to each location to choose how to help their communities. Many locations work with local food banks, women's shelters and animal shelters on a regular basis and not just during their national events. It is up to the local leadership to determine the best route to take and then get employees involved.

In 2013, Protection 1 impacted almost 150 local and national charities by donating over 25,000 hours of service. On All For 1 Day, they contributed nearly 1,500 hours of service and raised almost $15,000 for local groups. During Food For All Month, they collected over 25,000 pounds of food for local food banks and the Hero Run in Orem, Utah raised $30,000 for the Wounded Warriors Family Support program.

1 For All was created at the end of 2012 so that Protection 1 as a whole could put a focus on its community efforts. It was one part of the overall wellness program, Every 1 Counts, which emphasizes life balance. Protection 1 believes supporting the communities they live in plays a role in life balance as it is a way of helping others. In 2013, Protection 1 challenged all 2,500 of their employees (at the time) to donate 10 hours of time each to community service.
