JFK Airport Threats

Authorities Believe 11 International Flight Threats Were From Single Source

U.S. officials have said that the 11 threats against international commercial flights on Memorial Day were phoned in by the same person. The Air France flight 22 from Paris was escorted by two U.S. F-15 fighter jets to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport after authorities received a threat, according to reports.

The plane landed safely and was cleared with no incidents or hazards. Threats were made to flights to and from U.S. airports, including Newark and Atlanta, as well as between other foreign cities in Europe, North and South America and the Middle East.

At this point, the identity of the caller is not known, but officials say the threats were disruptive and wasted law enforcement resources. U.S. aviation security authorities receive and investigate an average of one threat per day, according to officials.
