Teq Hits the Spot with New Mobile Security and Emergency Communication for K-12 Schools

Teq announced spot, a new emergency management platform that improves overall school safety with real time emergency reporting and communications. Utilizing mobile technology and Bluetooth beacon hardware, staff are empowered with an spot’s easy-to-use app to instantly report emergencies, while also being able to receive critical information updates and be tracked to their exact location during the emergency.

“We are extending our partnership with schools to offer not only classroom technology for learning, but to also address the heightened need for reliable classroom and campus security,” said Chris Hickey, president of Teq. “The reality is that today’s schools need a system in place that provides effective security monitoring and timely incident reporting so that the school can receive rapid and targeted assistance from emergency responders.”

Spot is a cloud-based campus emergency platform that is supplemented by the spot app, for use by staff on campus on a mobile device. Using the app, staff can press a panic button for instant reporting of an on-site emergency that can then be evaluated and quickly escalated by on-site responders alerting off-site responders for assistance.

In addition to its emergency response features, spot streamlines communication by enabling staff to submit relevant information during an emergency via text, voice message, or a photo. Responders receive these “crowd-sourced” updates and can review them and then notify the members of the community. The mobile app also captures the location of an initial report and actively monitors the location of staff with the app, until the emergency is resolved.

Spot is now available to K-12 schools nationwide from Teq and its network of reseller partners, with packages starting under $4,000.
