Pelco and Agent Vi Partner to Provide Superior Video Analytics Solution

Pelco by Schneider Electric announced that they have teamed up with Agent Video Intelligence (Agent Vi) to integrate Pelco’s VideoXpert video management platform with savVi, Agent Vi’s video analytics platform – a union that literally extends the performance and functionality of the already powerful VideoXpert VMS.

The integration allows the full range of savVi’s analytics capabilities on every camera connected to the surveillance system through VideoXpert. Additionally, a deep integration with the VideoXpert Ops Center Client allows for full event management of real-time detections and alerts. This includes event notification, simplified configuration, triggered recording and more.

“The VideoXpert VMS platform is the ultimate core solution for capturing and reviewing real-time and recorded video, and multi-system information,” said John Raudabaugh, senior manager of Product Integration, Pelco by Schneider Electric. “We’re very happy to be working with Agent Vi and the extended video analytics capabilities their tools bring to VideoXpert functionality,” he said.

“Agent Vi continues to expand its strategic partnerships with the addition of Pelco, allowing us to further expand our market reach not only to future Pelco customers, but also to a vast, existing installed-base of Pelco users,” said Itsik Kattan, CEO of Agent Vi. “The Pelco-Agent Vi integration allows our joint customers to enjoy a complete end-to-end surveillance solution that boasts the highest performance video analytics capabilities.”

Designed with a ground-breaking user interface, VideoXpert is Pelco’s leading-edge Video Management System (VMS) that sets a new bar for the user experience. Through VideoXpert technology, users can tag cameras for easy recall, create and share playlists, and customize their workspaces to make more efficient use of their time focusing on the tasks most relevant to them. VideoXpert’s intuitive design is also optimized by an open architecture for a variety of integration options. While traditional integration is still possible, the new platform can integrate with other physical security systems and building systems to deliver situational awareness and control.  And, the VideoXpert Ops Center client supports modular plug-ins that expose additional functionality as required by surveillance needs, creating a cohesive and innovative network solution.

savVi, Agent Vi’s unified video analytics software solution, boasts a set of advanced, automated video analysis tools that provide for the immediate detection and extraction of events and valuable data from surveillance footage, replacing the manual and time-consuming tasks traditionally employed to monitor live video feeds or sift through recorded video. By employing savVi, users can make optimal use of their surveillance systems and allocate their time and attention in a more effective manner, thus increasing the return on investment in the surveillance system, as well as improving overall security, safety and business operations.

Agent Vi plug-ins for VideoXpert will be available for download by Pelco customers on the Partner First website as part of the Pelco Partner First program.

Pelco by Schneider Electric will be exhibiting the integrated solution at ASIS 2015 on September 30-October 1, 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA USA. Visit Pelco booth #4208 for more information.

  • The Evolution of IP Camera Intelligence

As the 30th anniversary of the IP camera approaches in 2026, it is worth reflecting on how far we have come. The first network camera, launched in 1996, delivered one frame every 17 seconds—not impressive by today’s standards, but groundbreaking at the time. It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
