ASSA ABLOY Releases Seven Environmental Product Declarations

ASSA ABLOY is pleased to announce that three of its Group brands, Adams Rite, HES and Securitron, have released seven Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for the following products: Adams Rite MS1850S Series MS (maximum security) deadbolts, HES 1006 and 9600 Series electric strikes, the Securitron M32 and M62 Magnalocks, and Securitron’s entire AQD6 Series of Switching Power Supplies, with additional designation for the AQD6. ASSA ABLOY is the only company to release EPDs in the power supply, maglock, electric strike and deadbolt categories.

An important aspect of an EPD is to provide the basis of a fair comparison of products by their environmental performance. An EPD tells the lifecycle story of a product in a single, written report, focusing on information about a product’s environmental impact, such as global warming, ozone depletion, water pollution, ozone creation, and greenhouse gas emissions and helps to promote transparency regarding product development.

“All of us at ASSA ABLOY are incredibly proud of the accomplishment represented by these seven EPDs,” said Scott Baker, president of the ASSA ABLOY EMS & OEM Group. “We invest deeply in every single product we develop in order to provide our customers with an unprecedented level of value. Today, the designations we’ve announced make the deadbolts, electric strikes and Magnalocks the clear and optimal choice for new construction. These products will contribute to earning points toward LEED certifications today and will help meet the requirements for green building codes in the future.”

The declarations announced today were conferred by two organizations, The Institute Construction and Environment (IBU) and UL Environmental (ULE). IBU is an industry-wide association with an international focus that runs programs to procure product declarations.
