Russia Confirms Bomb Downed Plane in Egypt

More than two weeks after the crash that killed 224, Russia has started sending missiles into ISIS strongholds

Russia has confirmed that a bomb brought down a Russian jet in Egypt more than two weeks ago, killing 224. Russia has since joined France in bombing ISIS targets in Syria, according to reports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered intensified attacks after details confirmed the Airbus A321 crash had been caused by a terrorist attack.

“We can say definitely that this was a terrorist act,” Alexander V. Bortnikov, the head of the Federal Security Service, or F.S.B. An explosive device detonated after the plane took off from Sharm el Sheikh.

Tourist flights to the area have since been suspended amid concerns that a member of the airport staff may have slipped the bomb on the plane. The explosive contained up to 2.2 pounds of TNT. Bortnikov stated that explosive material was found on parts of the plane as well as other examined objects.

Russia is offering $50 million for any information regarding who led the attack.
