New York Crime Spree Ends After Massive Manhunt

“Hundreds” of police officers were involved in the manhunt for 23-year-old Patrick James Dillon on March 6 after he went on a crime spree killing one and injuring four more, including two NYPD cops, according to a NYPD press conference.

The events began around 11:20 a.m. when Dillon slashed a 39-year-old female in the neck and face. This woman was allegedly his neighbor. About four hours and a mile away, law enforcement say that Dillon fatally stabbed a 55-year-old liquor store owner and sprayed a 61-year-old homeless man with gasoline before setting him on fire.

Police believe all of the attacks appeared to be random.

NYPD officers found Dillon at the scene of his first crime around 5:40 p.m.; he had a bottle of accelerant and what appeared to be a small green kitchen knife with him.

Police blocked off the corner of the neighborhood and the officers pursued Dillon. They ended up in the backyard that was later found out to belong to Dillon and his parents. When the police asked Dillon to drop the items he possessed, he splashed the solution on two of the police officers causing serious burns to the hands.

The officers were unable to get Dillon to drop the knife which resulted in the suspect being shot in both legs. He was arrested and taken to the hospital.

The officers are listed to be in stable condition, along with the homeless man. Dillon is listed in critical condition.
