Government Websites Hacked with ISIS Messages

Government websites in Ohio, Maryland and New York were targeted.

Government websites in Ohio, Maryland and New York were hacked over the weekend by what appears to be a pro-ISIS group who identifies themselves as, “Team System Dz.”

On Sunday, those who visited certain government sites such as governor.ohio.gov were met with a black background and an Arabic symbol as well as an Islamic call to prayer. Text on the page read, “You will be held accountable Trump, you and all your people for every drop of blood flowing in Muslim countries.”

In Ohio, the group hacked Gov. John Kasich’s official site, along with the websites of Karen Kasich and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.

Howard County, Maryland fell victim to the hack as well with the same content showing up on a government website on Sunday.

"There was no breach of data and no personal information was compromised," according to a statement from Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman. "Howard County government is working with law enforcement agencies and an investigation is underway. We apologize for any inconvenience."

The official website for the town of Brookhaven, New York was also hacked according to a communications director.

All websites, aside from the Brookhaven website which has been taken down, have been restored to their usual content.
