Woman Dead after Shooting at Tennessee Dentist Office

According to Sheriff Jeff Cassidy, the suspect—the victim’s husband—entered the dentist office and shot his wife. The suspect was shot by a bystander with a carry permit, who held him down until authorities arrived.

A woman is dead after a shooting Wednesday at a dentist office in Colonial Heights, Tenn., according to News Channel 11. Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said the suspect is in the hospital.

According to Cassidy, the suspect—the victim’s husband—entered the dentist office and shot his wife. The suspect was shot by a bystander with a carry permit, who held him down until authorities arrived. The victim died at a nearby hospital.

Cassidy said the suspect entered the office intending to kill his wife, who worked there.


The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and the Kingsport Police Department are leading the investigation with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The suspect is currently being treated for gunshot wounds and his condition is unknown at this time.
