Kentucky Public Library to Hire Security Resource Officers

The Warren County Public Library is hiring resource officers to boost safety and security.

After incidences of public intoxication, public disturbances and sexual harassment of library staff and patrons, Warren County Public Library is looking to add security resource officers to security the library for everyone.

With nearly 15,000 visitors a month in the downtown library, officials say they have reached a point where it just makes sense to hire on-site security staff, according to WBKO 13.

The library is looking to hire a full-time and part-time resource officer as soon as possible. They are looking for someone with two years of college level coursework or equivalent to law enforcement training.

In addition to the resource officers, the library also has safety procedures and guidelines in place for emergency situations. Officials at the library believe moving towards a security team is the best idea as the churches and schools in the area already have on-site security and they have helped to prevent crime as well as reduce the response time after a crime has been committed.
