Live From GSX: Day 2

Day One of GSX 2022 is in the books, and the conference is definitely getting back to its pre-COVID level of activity. All three of our Live From GSX sponsors—AlertEnterprise (Booth 2625), Axis Communications (Booth 3343) and Vistacom Control Room Solutions (Booth 1508)—brought their “A games,” and their booths were packed all day long. Here’s a closer look at what they’ve been working on over the past year. Remember to keep tabs on our GSX Live 2022 page and follow us on Twitter at SecurToday and CampusSecur for all the news coming out of Atlanta!

AlertEnterprise

AlertEnterprise debuted its new Asset Governance module to its Guardian security convergence platform. It connects individual identities to physical assets like keys, company technology and vehicles to help an organization protect its property. AlertEnterprise Asset Governance lets users keep tabs on compliance by delivering a complete chain of custody and auditing from a single platform. Users can streamline provisioning and identify and manage all employee and contractor assets from beginning to end. On the employee end, it also simplifies the process of replacing or reporting these items as missing.

“A totally automated way to request, approve, issue and manage physical assets by individual identity will help our customers dramatically increase the level of security, protection and inventory management,” said Yogesh Ailawadi, Senior Vice President of Products and Solutions Engineering.

AlertEnterprise is also previewing its new SafeTrust and Sentry partnerships, as well as sponsoring the CSO Lounge during the show!

Axis Communications

Axis Sales Director Ted Wilkinson demonstrated the Axis Camera Station product line, which consists of a powerful and easy-to-use video management system—along with associated hardware like servers, access control, analytics and more. Higher server power allows for up to 96 cameras per server, as well as better support for Smart Search 2. It also includes an integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) to improve both physical and cybersecurity. Smart Search 2 expands the company’s analytics offerings with more powerful search capabilities. The expanded access control offerings include a next-generation A1201, a smaller, single-door controller which comes as a standalone model or a four-channel fit. Finally, the Axis Integrator Suite are tools that help the integrator do a better job of selling, designing, installing, configuring and managing the equipment at their customers’ sites.

Vistacom Control Room Solutions

Vistacom Control Room Solutions is demonstrating the Vistacom Secure View, which recently won a New Product of the Year award from Security Today. It helps small- and medium-sized organizations establish operations centers with a pre-configured and pre-engineered command center kit. SecureView offers an all-in-one command center solution that lets integrators generate a single part number that becomes a pre-fabbed video wall and operator visualization solution right out of the box with self-assembly instructions.

Vistacom is also co-hosting a rooftop party tonight (Tuesday 9/13) at Skyline Park at Ponce City Market, featuring vintage amusements, rides and games, drinks and food, mini-golf, and networking opportunities galore!

  • The Evolution of IP Camera Intelligence

As the 30th anniversary of the IP camera approaches in 2026, it is worth reflecting on how far we have come. The first network camera, launched in 1996, delivered one frame every 17 seconds—not impressive by today’s standards, but groundbreaking at the time. It did something that no analog system could: transmit video over a standard IP network. Read Now

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
