X-Ray System Deployed at Lithuanian Government Facility

The AXIS CXi screening device has been implemented to protect a government building against postal and material threats.

A government facility in Lithuania has deployed a specialized mailroom screening system to scan incoming packages for explosive devices, hazardous materials and contraband.

The facility is utilizing the AXIS CXi cabinet system, manufactured by 3DX-RAY. The technology is designed to detect threats sent through mail networks by using color-coded imaging to identify the specific material composition of an object rather than just its shape.

The system categorizes scanned materials into distinct visual indicators. Organic substances, including explosives and narcotics, appear orange. Metals, such as firearms or knife blades, show as blue, while inorganic materials often used in improvised explosive components are highlighted in green. Operators can also switch the feed to a greyscale mode to better analyze the physical shape of an item.

The equipment is the only cabinet mail screening unit that complies with the United Kingdom’s NPSA PAS 97:2021 standards for material discrimination.

While built for mailrooms, the unit features an expanded inspection chamber capable of scanning larger items, including backpacks and aircraft cabin luggage. The mobile hardware footprint allows security teams to relocate the machine across different areas of a facility, such as lobbies, loading docks and corporate offices.

The installation expands the deployment of this specific screening technology within European government and critical infrastructure sectors.
