1Kosmos Names Roger Hale as Chief Information Security Officer

The veteran cybersecurity executive will lead internal security, compliance and risk management programs as the identity verification provider scales.

Identity verification and authentication provider 1Kosmos has appointed Roger Hale as its new chief information security officer.

Hale, who possesses more than 20 years of executive management experience within global cybersecurity firms, will oversee the company's internal security, compliance, risk management and customer trust programs. The appointment comes as the firm expands its identity verification and passwordless authentication services across public sector agencies, regulated industries and enterprise markets.

Prior to joining 1Kosmos, Hale served as vice president and chief information security officer at data management firm Informatica. During his tenure there, he managed security architecture transitions during the company’s shift toward cloud-first data management operations.

Hale’s previous enterprise security experience includes senior leadership roles at Agora, BigID and Veritas/Symantec. He also worked as a chief information security officer-in-residence and venture advisor for investment firm YL Ventures, and maintains active membership in the Silicon Valley CISO Investment group.

The leadership transition aligns with shifting security challenges in the identity market. Modern security threats increasingly leverage stolen credentials, social engineering tactics and artificial intelligence-driven impersonation methods to target system workflows, such as account recovery and device enrollment.

While traditional security protocols typically verify an identity solely during initial employee onboarding, the 1Kosmos platform attempts to mitigate credential theft and account takeover risks by applying ongoing verification processes to transaction types including password resets, step-up authentication and help desk validations.
