Wyoming Airport Unifies Physical Security Infrastructure

Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport deploys Genetec Security Center to consolidate video surveillance and access control into a single platform.

Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport has upgraded its physical security infrastructure by deploying a unified security platform to manage video surveillance, access control and alarms.

The installation was completed as part of a $43 million commercial terminal modernization project designed to support future facility growth, evolving Transportation Security Administration guidelines and potential new flight routes. Located in Sweetwater County, the regional airport handles more than 11,000 annual flight operations and serves upwards of 50,000 passengers each year.

Airport leadership sought to replace legacy video surveillance and access control systems with an open-architecture platform. The goal was to allow for the expansion of security infrastructure without tying the facility to proprietary vendor hardware.

Working alongside systems integrator Incline Technology, the airport deployed Genetec Security Center. The software centralizes security monitoring across the airport terminal, fuel station, weather station and the Sweetwater Aviation facility.

The unified interface allows the airport's security team to manage daily operations and respond to incidents from a single workstation. Staff members utilize the platform's advanced search capabilities to review video footage and accelerate investigations. Following a recent suspected theft at the airport's micro market, security personnel used the built-in search features to review inventory changes and verify within minutes that the item had been purchased rather than stolen.

The scalable software foundation is intended to let the small airport team scale operations and integrate additional capabilities as flight traffic expands.
