HID Unveils Software Updates to Accelerate Mobile Access Upgrades

New enhancements eliminate the need for hardware replacements or manual firmware updates when transitioning to smartphone credentials.

Security solutions provider HID has launched a series of system updates designed to help organizations transition from physical keycards to mobile access credentials using their existing hardware setup.

The update removes major operational bottlenecks that typically slow down digital access adoption. Previously, switching a facility to mobile credentials required security teams to replace physical wall readers or dispatch technicians to update firmware manually at every door.

Through new functionality in the HID Mobile Access App, existing hardware platforms—including HID Signo and iCLASS SE readers—can process mobile requests using already-configured Seos security keys. The change allows administrators to activate smartphone credentials across a facility without scheduling physical maintenance visits or purchasing new door equipment.

Alongside the core app update, the company expanded its mobile ecosystem with several supporting tools:

  • Digital Wallet Integration: Support has been expanded to include Samsung Wallet, adding to existing smartphone wallet options for end users globally.
  • Partner Onboarding Services: A new service called QuickStart to Mobile allows HID to handle user enrollment directly, reducing administrative tasks for integration partners during rollout.
  • Wireless Management: The HID Linq Mobile tool lets administrators update reader configurations directly from a mobile device over Bluetooth Low Energy and Near Field Communication, eliminating manual wiring or local hardware adjustments.

The updates allow facilities managers to scale digital access deployment while preserving legacy infrastructure investments.
