More than two decades after Fifth Third Bank began working with March Networks, the bank's video surveillance deployment now encompasses more than 1,500 financial centers and about 80 high-rise and high-density facilities, according to a customer success story published by March Networks.
Fifth Third currently operates more than 30,000 cameras and over 1,100 recorders using March Networks technology. The bank is also expanding exterior camera coverage across its branch network, with that rollout about 60% complete.
Fifth Third said the exterior cameras allow security teams to track incidents beyond branch interiors and provide video to law enforcement. Jason Walter, senior security strategy manager at Fifth Third Bank, stated in the customer success story that the exterior cameras have helped push apprehension rates above 80%.
Exterior footage has also been used to support law enforcement investigations involving incidents near bank properties and to assess weather-related damage. Fifth Third is continuing a multiyear upgrade of its recording infrastructure as part of its ongoing work with March Networks.
