Report: Border Automation Installations Forecast to Rise Nearly 50% by 2035
Biometric enrollment pods and totems are projected to grow faster than eGates over the next decade.

The global installed base of automated border control eGates, immigration kiosks and biometric pods and totems is forecast to grow by almost 50% from 2025 to 2035, according to a Valour Consultancy report.
Biometric pods and totems are projected to have the fastest growth, with their installed base rising 77% over that period. The report forecasts 44% growth for eGates, which remain the largest of the equipment categories by annual revenue.
The devices serve different parts of border processing: eGates can clear eligible travelers automatically and kiosks allow travelers to complete steps such as document reading and providing biometric information. Pods and totems support biometric enrollment while an officer retains control of the clearance decision.
Valour Consultancy attributes the different growth rates in part to the smaller existing base of pods and totems. It expects border agencies to use automated clearance alongside self-service enrollment and officer-led checks as they expand their systems.
The report examines border equipment and supporting identity systems across air, land and maritime crossings.
