Zscaler, IBM, Red Hat Partner on Private App Security

The collaboration links Zscaler Autonomous Application Shield with Lightwell to protect private applications between vulnerability disclosure and patch deployment.

Zscaler has announced a collaboration with IBM and Red Hat aimed at protecting private applications in the gap between when a vulnerability is disclosed and when a patch is deployed, pairing network-level protections with tested software fixes.

In the press release, Gunnar Hellekson, vice president and general manager of Lightwell at Red Hat, said AI is shrinking the window between vulnerability discovery and exploitation, which he said has gone from months or weeks to hours and minutes.

Zscaler said Autonomous Application Shield applies application-specific protections inline through the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange as remediation is underway. Lightwell from IBM and Red Hat then supplies validated fixes for affected open-source software so customers can correct the underlying vulnerability, Zscaler said.

The collaboration will cover exposure discovery, application-specific protection, real-time deployment of controls and source-level remediation, according to Zscaler. Autonomous Application Shield is currently available through an Early Access Program, and the company noted that the collaboration's capabilities, availability and timing may change.
