Teen Arrested After 11 People Shot Near FAMU

Police reported six minors among those injured as investigators reviewed evidence and later arrested a 15-year-old.

A 15-year-old faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder following a shooting near Florida A&M University’s football stadium that injured 12 people, according to Tallahassee police.

The teenager also faces a charge of possessing a firearm as a delinquent. Eleven victims suffered gunshot wounds, while another injured an ankle fleeing the scene. Six victims were adults and six were minors.

The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, near the intersection of Perry and Manatee streets in Tallahassee, Florida. Police initially reported three shooting victims with serious injuries and nine other people in stable condition. A subsequent update reported no deaths.

Officers aided victims before the area was fully secured. Detectives examined digital material, collected physical evidence and searched the surrounding neighborhood for information.

The latest update said investigators believe a dispute between people who knew one another preceded the gunfire. None of those injured appeared to be intended targets, police said.

Further arrests remain possible. Investigators established a dedicated tip line at 850-891-4610 and an online portal for submitting photos, videos and other evidence.
