With more than 800 companies exhibiting at the 2009 ISC West tradeshow, it’s not surprising that there’s almost too much news to report coming out of the Sands Expo Center this week. And the fascinating, innovative products on display are almost too much to wrap your mind around.

Intransa recently announced that its StorAlliance Technology Certification program has continued to expand with additional physical security vendors now participating. Many members of the StorAlliance are joining Intransa in demoing risk-free, integrated solutions in their respective booths at ISC West.

Day one of the 2009 ISC West tradeshow left no doubt in my mind: the security industry is alive and well in this troubling economic time. The show floor was packed, and although there were whispers that attendance is down, I honestly couldn’t see a difference in the crowds from last year’s show.

Axis Communications recently announced at ISC West a high-performance, four-channel standalone video encoder with H.264 video compression. The full-featured AXIS Q7404 Video Encoder integrates four analog CCTV cameras into an IP-based video surveillance system.

Cernium Corp., developer of video analytics enabled products, announced recently that Mount Holyoke College has selected Cernium’s Perceptrak advanced video analytics software, integrated with Milestone XProtect Enterprise IP video management software, to enhance the security of its South Hadley, Mass. campus.
ARINC Inc. is deploying video cameras and advanced surveillance software at an additional 14 Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) passenger rail stations under the second phase of a video surveillance contract partially funded by the Department of Homeland Security.

Educational institutions across the globe are expanding their security and surveillance capabilities. In Baton Rouge, La., the Louisiana School for the Deaf is no different.
