ComNet announced the RLGE2FE16R. It is the company’s first Ethernet switch/router that is designed specifically for use in electrical utility substations and switchyards, heavy manufacturing facilities, and as railway track-side electronic equipment. Fully compliant with IEC6185-3 and IEEE1613 class 2, it is for use where high levels of electromagnetic interference are routinely encountered. The switch/router is designed to prevent unauthorized access to a network and offers an enhanced security version that easily allows for secure firewalls to be setup where multiple levels of authentication must be followed before access is granted.

This breakthrough for the security industry will allow you to run a Cat 5, 4-pair cable up to 5000’ and connect two (2) 30 Watt PoE devices at the end without the need for additional power. The expected symmetrical bandwidth is 13Mb/s. Greater bandwidth and longer distances can also be reached with thicker gauge wire and bonding additional twisted pairs.

It is equipped with four built-in IR illuminators that enable video to be captured in little to no visible light, and an Auto Focus function for clear focusing on subjects both near and far away. It offers analog video output and installation controls for simple camera positioning during installation, and multiple power options including 24 V AC, 12 V DC, PoE and PoE+ provide further installation flexibility.
