Pixim Powers Security For Australia Shipping Operator

Pixim Inc., a provider of image sensors and processors for enterprise security cameras, has been chosen as a key technology by Patrick, Australia's largest operator of shipping and container terminals.

Patrick teamed with One Security Int'l. Pty Ltd., a provider of security solutions, for installation of an all-digital Pixim-powered video security system in six Australian ports.

Patrick is converting its analog CCD-based video camera system to an all-digital security and management system, using Pixim-powered cameras. With a fully updated security system slated for six maritime facilities consisting of four terminals and two stevedores, Patrick will have more than 500 Pixim-based cameras in place.

These maritime sites will incorporate Pixim-powered box and dome camera formats, placed inside Patrick's buildings and lobbies, as well as outdoors to protect the perimeters and acreage.

Pixim's Digital Pixel System (DPS) technology is the only video image processing technology to employ hundreds of thousands of pixels, each acting like an individual camera. These self-adjusting pixels eliminate image-compromising visual noise and deliver high resolution, natural color and clarity -- even within highlights and shadows. Pixim's all-digital system overcomes typical impediments of existing analog CCD technologies to provide positive subject identification.

"Pixim makes it possible for video security systems to deliver data without doubt," said John Monti, vice president of marketing and business development, Pixim. "The wide deployment of our technology across Patrick's port security installation demonstrates the tremendous versatility of Pixim-powered cameras -- the ability to capture and deliver superb image quality and crucial details in all lighting conditions. At port access points, a person's face is no longer obscured by back light, shifts in lighting throughout the day or glare from water. In addition to identifying perpetrators 24/7, Pixim-powered cameras deliver superior data to the video analytics system for more accurate forensics and other investigation."
